We are proud to announce that the NBRA has signed the Women’s Sports Foundation Letter Addressing NCAA Gender Inequalities that were exhibited during the NCAA tournaments this March. Providing equal experiences and opportunities for all athletes at every level is an essential part of our organization. The NBRA continuously strives to support gender equality and urges the NCAA to use full transparency in their investigation in order to promote real change. The members of the National Basketball Referees Association (NBRA) and the WNBA agreed to a 3-year CBA, which has been ratified by membership.

Meet Suyash Mehta, the NBA’s first full-time Indian-origin referee named to the league’s officiating staff for the 2020–21 season. The National Basketball Referees Association (NBRA) and the NBA G League have passed a Letter of Agreement for the G League to play the 2020–21 season in February at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. The format of the season will be modeled after the same bubble approach that the NBA tested and used this summer, with league-wide health and safety protocols in place to ensure safety amidst the COVID-19 crisis. NBRA Announces Ratification of Agreement Governing 2020–21 Season

The members of the National Basketball Referees Association (NBRA) have ratified a Letter of Agreement modifying the Referees’ collective bargaining agreement with the NBA for the 2020–21 Season for the principal purpose of addressing operations in the COVID-19 context. The Letter of Agreement provides for the officials’ waiver of certain work rules in order to allow for the implementation of the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

NBA Referees to Kneel During National Anthem in Support of Social Justice

The National Basketball Referees Association (NBRA) announced today that it is supporting its members who have made the choice to kneel during the National Anthem to demonstrate solidarity with the social justice movement in America.

“BLACK LIVES MATTER. Social justice and bringing awareness to the inequitable treatment of black and brown people in America are very important to our diverse membership, and we felt a responsibility to use our visibility as the NBA season resumes to promote awareness and inspire anti-racist action in our nation and around the world,” said NBRA spokesperson Mark Denesuk.


The National Basketball Referees Association (NBRA) and the WNBA have announced the ratification of a Letter of Agreement addressing issues related to the delayed start of the WNBA season at IMG Academy, the Official Home of the 2020 WNBA Season in Bradenton, Florida.
