National Basketball Referees Association Partners with Non-Profit “It’s From The Sole” for Third Year

The NBRA and It’s From The Sole will collaborate for the third annual Night of Giving

On Thursday, December 26, 2019, the National Basketball Referees Association (NBRA) will team up with It’s From The Sole (IFTS) and the NBA for the third annual Night Of Giving, culminating during the New York Knicks at Brooklyn Nets game at the Barclays Center.

The NBRA, NBA and IFTS will encourage fans around the country to donate gently used sneakers to be given to the homeless community in New York and around the globe. IFTS was founded by New York City resident Andre McDonnell, and has distributed more than 30,000 shoes to the homeless and less fortunate in 27 cities and 14 countries, over the span of seven years.

NBRA executive board member and veteran NBA referee Zach Zarba is a longtime friend of McDonnell’s. “Andre McDonnell, through IFTS, has dedicated his life to serving those less fortunate. The NBRA and the NBA are honored to play a small part in his journey,” said Zarba.

Of the continued collaboration between the NBRA and IFTS, McDonnell said, “It’s incredible to have such strong partners like the NBRA, who continuously want to give back to those in need in their cities, and support their local communities nationwide. They are incredible humanitarians and champions for those in need.”

NBA referees working that night, as well as referees who are not working, will be donating gently used sneakers to IFTS.

There’s no better way to finish off 2019 than giving back to people who have less than most. IFTS is currently working on fundraising for their efforts. To donate to It’s From The Sole, and learn more about the organization, please visit their website:
