Get Ready For The Return Of The #RefWatchParty

This week, the National Basketball Referees Association will be tweeting live in-game commentary and analysis during tonight’s Warriors-Lakers game on TNT at 10:30pmET and during the Spurs-Sixers game on ESPN at 8pmET on Wednesday, January 23. These will mark the second and third #RefWatchParty events hosted on the NBA Referee’s official Twitter account.

The first of its kind was back in June of last year during Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Throughout the game, the @OfficialNBARefs account responded to questions from fans and media members, broke down plays in real-time and offered transparent and honest answers on both correct and incorrect calls made during the game.

We offered explanations on the mechanics of how the crew rotates and shifts on the floor…

Contributed facts that the average fan might not know…

Gave insights on rules…

And of course, commented on specific plays…

The first #RefWatchParty was an all-around success for the NBA officials and received praise from fans and media alike:

This year, the NBA Referee’s Association will conduct the second and third #RefWatchParty live from the NBA Replay Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. The NBRA is looking forward to collaborating with the NBA for the next watch party events to bring an even better experience to fans.
